Man killed in drive-by shooting in Watts, police say
Police on Wednesday were searching for those responsible for the drive-by shooting death of a man in Watts.
The man was standing outside of a home near Compton Avenue and East 107th Street on Tuesday night when someone fired a round striking him in the chest about 7:20 p.m., said Los Angeles Police Department Officer Sally Madera.
He was taken to a hospital, where he died.

The man’s name was not immediately released but Madera said he was in his late 20s.
The suspected assailant fled the scene in a vehicle and remains at large. Detectives did not have any witnesses or a vehicle description Wednesday.
Over the period of about the last three months, the neighborhood of Watts has averaged 11.2 violent crimes per week, according to the L.A. crime mapping database.
