‘Walking Dead’ creator Frank Darabont sells 1920s home in Los Feliz
Frank Darabont, creator of “The Walking Dead,” has sold his atmospheric house in Los Feliz for $3.575 million.
Blending elements of early California and Monterey styles, the fine craftsmanship of the 1927 home is evident in such details as the mahogany doors and windows, custom ironwork, hand-cut wood beams and archways.
A formal entry, dining and living rooms, an office, a wine tasting room, four bedrooms and three bathrooms are within the 3,214 square feet of living space. A detached guesthouse serves as a screening room.
The grounds include a landscaped courtyard, a hand-laid garden wall, a koi pond, colorful tile work and statuary.
Leading lady, singer and dancer Ginger Rogers was among the previous owners. Rogers, who died in 1995 at 83, won an Oscar for her work in “Kitty Foyle” (1944).
Darabont, 56, was also an executive producer during the 2010-12 seasons of “The Walking Dead.” He directed the Oscar-nominated films “The Shawshank Redemption” (1994) and “The Green Mile” (1999).
The property previously changed hands in 1992 for $715,000, public records show, and came on the market in late March at $3.6 million.
Patricia Ruben of Sotheby’s International Realty handled the transaction.
