LA Opera president is ready to pass the baton for Arts District loft
The Arts District loft of LA Opera President Christopher Koelsch is for sale at $1.649 million.
The four-story loft is in a reimagined 1906 sugar beet warehouse that has been updated for modern living while retaining some of its industrial charm. Among features are high ceilings, white-painted beams and custom tile, polished concrete and wood floors. Original brickwork fills the walls in the living and family rooms.
An open-plan kitchen and dining room, two bedrooms and three bathrooms also lie within more than 2,400 square feet of interior. A glass door off the top-level master suite leads to a private terrace.
Two parking spaces are included with the residence, one of which includes an electric vehicle charging station.

Koelsch joined LA Opera more than two decades ago and has been the president and chief executive of LA Opera since 2012. During his tenure he has overseen the creation of 32 new productions as well as seven television recordings, including the Grammy-winning “Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny.”
He bought the property six years ago for $1.2 million, records show.
