Mammoth opens Thursday with $50 tickets and top-to-bottom runs
Mammoth Mountain opens Thursday, with top-to-bottom skiing, courtesy of generous early-season snows. The forecast calls for clear skies with temperatures in the 60s.
The sprawling resort, a five-hour drive from Los Angeles, is marking its season debut with $50 lift tickets (ages 13-to-22 are $41). On Friday, military veterans ski free in honor of Veterans Day.
Free coffee and hot chocolate will be available at Broadway Express beginning at 7 a.m. Thursday. At 8:30 a.m., the first chairs will start to run and continue until 4 p.m. Live music is planned at the McCoy Station Sundeck at 11: 30 a.m.
