Holiday gift tip: Mammoth brew tour, plus lunch and suds, for $99
Looking for a birthday or holiday gift for the beer lover in your life? Book a tour of the three Mammoth Lakes craft breweries. The all-inclusive tours — transit, tastings, lunch, tips and taxes — cost $99.
Eastern Sierra Brewery Tours stop for about an hour each at the three breweries: June Lake Brewing, Black Doubt Brewing and Mammoth Brewing Co. The tours can be booked any day of the week, says Mike King, who started the business in May with his wife, Sabrina. They are not affiliated with the breweries themselves, King says, but they work with the businesses to coordinate the pit stops.
Participants receive a wristband to sample beer and can proceed at their own pace, King says. The tours are restricted to those 21 or older, and IDs are required.
The company will take as few as two customers in their 11-passenger van, and accept last-minute sign-ups, except on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, when reservations are required. Phone reservations are accepted, but King says the best way to book a tour is through the website.
Tours start at 11:30 a.m., run to about 3:30 p.m. and include lunch at a gourmet food truck that makes Hawaiian soul food (Ohana’s 395). Two pickup locations are available in Mammoth Lakes, or customers can meet the tour at the first stop at June Lake Brewing.
King says the van also will pick up groups ranging in size from four to 10 in Bishop, Calif.
