Want more bang for your vacation cruise buck? See which lines U.S. News says deliver value
Want to know which cruise lines are the best for the money? Celebrity Cruises took the top best-value spot in U.S. News & World Report’s 2017 rankings, which were released Tuesday.
An estimated 24 million passengers are expected to take an ocean cruise this year, according to the Cruise Lines International Assn. trade association.
The magazine evaluated 15 cruise lines using criteria that included travelers’ feedback and health inspection scores.
Seven other cruise lines made the good-deal list:
2. Royal Caribbean International
3. Norwegian Cruise Line, which travels from L.A. to Mexico
4. Carnival Cruise Line, which travels from L.A. and Long Beach to Mexico, and offers a Panama Canal transit from L.A.
5. Princess Cruises, which travels from L.A. to Mexico.
6. Holland America Line, which travels from San Diego to Mexico.
8. MSC Cruises
Top honors for best family cruise line (no surprise) and best Caribbean line goes to Disney Cruise Line. And Crystal Cruises took the No. 1 spot for best luxury cruise line.
In making its evaluations, U.S. News used expert ratings (30%), traveler ratings from Cruiseline.com (50%) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention sanitation inspection scores from ships (20%).
