Injured Lions WR Nate Burleson gets a free year of DiGiorno pizza
Nate Burleson won’t have to worry about going out to pick up pizza anymore -- which is a good thing since that’s how the Detroit Lions wide receiver injured his arm last month.
Instead, all he has to do is navigate his way into the kitchen without coming into harm’s way, thanks to a gift from DiGiorno Pizza.
The frozen pizza giant sent coupons for a year’s worth of its product, along with a pizza cutter, to Burleson, who posted a photo of the letter and gifts on Instagram on Sunday night.
The 11-year veteran hasn’t played since Week 3 after breaking a bone in his arm during a car accident he said he caused by reaching for a pizza box sliding off the passenger seat. He recently started lifting weights again.
“We hope you are feeling better after your recent car accident and are on the road to recovery!” the letter reads. “DiGiorno Pizza understands the challenges that come with carryout and delivery so we’re sending you a gift along with a year supply of DiGiorno pizza so you can skip carryout.”
Quite a nice gesture from the folks at DiGiorno -- or were they just rubbing it in? After all, they have been telling us for years that their pizza is just as good as delivery. Burleson could have saved himself a lot of pain had he listened.
