NFL will review Tom Brady’s slide

The NFL said it will review Tom Brady’s actions during the AFC championship game, when, during a slide, he lifted his leg and seemed to aim it in the direction of Ravens safety Ed Reed.

If the league determines the New England Patriots quarterback intentionally tried to hurt Reed, he could be fined. But Reed is fine with what happened.

“I told him -- you know, we talked,” Reed told radio station WJZ in Baltimore. “We talked actually not too long ago; we talked on the phone. He actually reached out to me, texted me. I tried to text him back, but the message exploded after 12 seconds, so I had to call him ... and he just apologized and whatnot. But I told him, ‘You know, it’s good, man.’

“Brady’s a great competitor and I love going against him and I know where his heart is at for this game. It was all good.

“I know he’s a great player. I respect Brady and his game for all it stands for, and I know he’s not a dirty player. And emotions get going in the game.”

However, Ravens safety Bernard Pollard isn’t so sure.

“When you slide, everything is on the ground. He knew what he was doing,” Pollard told the Associated Press. “Hopefully the NFL will do something about it.”

Reed was not injured on the play, and Brady was not called for a penalty.
