Woman survives after gunman fires 15 shots at her car in South Los Angeles
A string of violence that plagued Los Angeles over the weekend continued Wednesday with a gunman spraying more than a dozen shots at a woman who was sitting in a car in Hyde Park.
The woman was wounded but miraculously survived, and officers are looking for the gunman, said Los Angeles police Officer Aareon Jefferson.

The woman was coming home from a club about 3 a.m. and parked her car near a driveway in the 6800 block of 11th Avenue when the gunshots rang out.
At least 15 bullets pierced the woman’s car doors and windows, KTLA reported.
The woman, in her 40s, suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was taken to a hospital. She was in stable condition Wednesday morning, Jefferson said.
No one has been arrested in the shooting. It was unclear if the shooting was related to gang activity.
It comes a day after the Los Angeles Police Department’s top brass addressed concerns about the violence that erupted over the weekend. Police said 19 people were shot, five of them fatally.
Violent crime has risen in Los Angeles in recent months, with homicides up nearly 11% this year compared with 2014.
The recent shootings have prompted the LAPD to review its deployment of officers.
LAPD Asst. Chief Jorge Villegas said homicides were lower in September than in August, when 39 people were killed during the deadliest month the city had seen since 2009.
