Infant recovering after being shot in thigh by stray bullet
A 9-month-old girl is recovering after being shot in the thigh by a stray bullet in Panorama City Saturday night, authorities said.
The shooting occurred near the intersection of Wakefield Avenue and Osborne Street about 7:15 p.m., said Los Angeles Police Department Sgt. Greg Bruce.
A woman was walking the infant in a stroller when an altercation occurred nearby, Bruce said. Four males ages 16 to 18 exchanged words and one of them fired a gun, and a bullet hit the infant.
The bullet was not intended for the victim, Bruce said, noting that the woman and child were “in the wrong place at the wrong time.”
The child was taken to Northridge Hospital, where she was listed in stable condition, Bruce said.
The suspects remain at large.
Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call LAPD’s Mission division at 818-838-9800.
