Huntington Beach man shot inside home; intruders sought
A Huntington Beach man was shot early Thursday morning inside his home and police are searching for two suspects who were spotted fleeing the neighborhood.
The shooting happened just before 3:30 a.m. on the 8300 block of Lambert Drive, and was reported by neighbors who heard gunshots, Huntington Beach Police Chief Robert Handy said.
The victim, described as a man in his late 20s or early 30s, suffered several gunshot wounds. He was undergoing surgery and listed in critical but stable condition, Handy said.
One of the people at the home at the time of the shooting told police that they awakened to find armed strangers in the home.
“We’re not exactly sure what exactly transpired here this morning and how this whole thing started,” Handy said. “We’re not sure if they broke in or were invited in or came in through an open door.”
Handy said there were signs of “criminal activity” at the house, but declined to elaborate. He said officers were seeking a search warrant for further investigation.
Police are canvassing the neighborhood to talk to any potential witnesses.
