Some Hot Pockets recalled because of possible meat contamination
Nestle USA has announced a voluntary recall of packages of its Philly Steak and Cheese flavored Hot Pockets. The pockets were found to contain meat that was part of the massive Rancho Feeding Corporation beef recall last week.
The USDA has not reported any illnesses in relation to the beef recall or the Hot Pocket recall.
Nestle says it did not purchase meat directly from Rancho Feeding Corp. but that it found a company in its supply chain did buy meat from the corporation in 2013, during the time covered in the meat recall.
Nestle confirmed the meat was used at the Nestle production facility in Chatsworth that makes Hot Pockets. The affected packages included Hot Pockets Philly Steak & Cheese 9-ounce boxes, 54-ounce boxes and 22.5-ounce boxes.
