One of the biggest wine events of the year is Vegas Uncork’d by Bon Appétit magazine, May 8-11. This year’s is the eighth such event and the biggest ever.

Practically every name chef, sommelier and mixologist from the Vegas food and casino scene will be on hand throughout the four-day celebration. Just read the names of the chef/hosts (in alphabetical order): Mario Batali, Daniel Boulud, Royden Ellamar, Bobby Flay, Pierre Gagnaire, Thomas Keller, Giada De Laurentiis, Nobu Matsuhisa, Shawn McClain, Michael Mina, Joël Robuchon, Guy Savoy, Julian Serrano, Masayoshi Takayama, Buddy Valastro. . . and more.

More? 70 chefs in fact. And 20 sommeliers.

If only one had the time and moolah to attend all the events. I’m thinking the Krug Chef’s Table at Guy Savoy where just six guests will sip Krug Champagne with a special menu cooked by Guy Savoy himself ($5,000 for the table of six seats).

The cool kids will probably be going to The Night Market: East Meets West, an Asian night market experience cooked up by top chefs from The Venetian, including Batali, Keller and Valastro—and chefs from Singapore’s Marina Bay Sands ($140).

Nobu fans will flock to a sushi and sake tasting and class with Nobu Matsuhisa at Caesars Palace. (Roman attire not required.)

But then again, maybe the hot item will be Michael Mina’s Poolside Pig Roast and Beer garden at MGM Grand ($125).

You can see the problem. Too many events, too many worthy chefs to track. Not to mention a Grand Tasting ($225) of dishes from 50 chefs and more than 100 wines and spirits at the five-acre Garden of the Gods Pool Oasis at Caesars. Garden of the Gods Pool Oasis! Few wine and food festivals can claim anything close to that.

And to cap that, Joël Robuchon (only France’s Chef of the Century) will be hosting two private dinners. Whoops, those are already sold out. Okay, then, Rao’s Italian Feast with the Pellegrino family ($175).

Tickets are on sale at VegasUncorked.com or call 1-877-884-8993. And while you’re at it, better reserve a room somewhere.
