‘Full House’ dads reunite for Super Bowl commercial

It’s been almost 20 years since the ABC sitcom “Full House” ended in 1995, but this year’s Super Bowl will give America another chance to check in on Danny, Uncle Joey and Uncle Jesse.

“Full House” stars John Stamos, Dave Coulier and Bob Saget are back in one of those much-discussed Super Bowl ads, selling Dannon’s Oikos yogurt.

According to Adweek, Stamos is the star of the ad — he’s the brand ambassador — with Saget and Coulier providing cameos. A preview of the ad was released online Monday. The full ad will air during the Super Bowl on Fox on Feb. 2.

This isn’t the first time the “Full House” dads have gotten back together. Most of the cast appeared on Saget’s final episode of “America’s Funniest Home Videos” in 1997 and again for the show’s 25th anniversary in 2012.

Trading on pop culture nostalgia is nothing new for Super Bowl ads. Matthew Broderick revisited his Ferris Bueller character in an ad for Honda during the 2012 Super Bowl and “Mean” Joe Greene revisited his 1979 Super Bowl ad for Coke, “Hey Kid, Catch,” with a parody featuring Amy Sedaris for Downy fabric softener that aired during the Super Bowl pregame show also in 2012.

In December, The Times reported that Fox had sold out its Super Bowl ad inventory with spots going for as much as $4.5 million per 30 seconds of airtime.
