J.J. Abrams reveals ‘Star Wars’ fake audition tapes on ‘SNL’
J.J. Abrams and the new cast of the soon-to-be-released “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” revealed a collection of early audition tape (parodies) from the next “Star Wars” movie on “Saturday Night Live.” Which means we got to see Jon Hamm acting like a scruffy-looking nerf herder.
The best thing about about the “Saturday Night Live” fake audition tape gag is witnessing the cast trot out new impressions. The “Back to the Future” audition tape included Al Pacino (Bill Hader) as Doc Brown, Eddie Murphy (Jay Pharoah) as Marty McFly and an uncomfortably, spot-on Alan Alda impression, also from Hader.

And now it’s “Star Wars’” turn, and with it comes Cecily Strong as Sofia Vergara, Taran Killam as David Beckham and real life Emma Stone and Hamm all giving their best screen tests for a new spot in the galaxy far, far away.
Perhaps the best part is the pairing of impressions with the exceedingly charming, real-life cast of the new “Star Wars” Daisy Ridley and John Boyega, who took this opportunity to slam the #BoycottStarWarsVII troll brigade that popped up briefly on Twitter.
