Ava DuVernay creates #CelebrateStarWarsVII hashtag, silences racist trolls

Tonight "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" tickets will go on sale, but today a collection of racist trolls have unleashed a new hashtag on twitter, . But the backlash already has a backlash. 

The hashtag #BoycottStarWarsVII was trending on Monday, the day of the big new "Star Wars" trailer. Twitter accounts from users such as Captain Confederacy and Critical Spooking are using the hashtag as a rally cry due to an alleged lack of white actors in the movie. Clearly they've all forgotten who voices Darth Vader.  


It should also be noted that some of the anti-"Star Wars" twitter accounts were seemingly created today, most likely an attempt to generate headlines for this vile trend. 

Cooler heads have prevailed thanks to "Selma" director Ava DuVernay, who has already coined her response hashtag to the small but loud group of haters with 


#CelebrateStarWarsVII came after DuVernay's response to this tweet:

And from there the Internet turned the negative hashtag into a positive celebration of diversity:
