Kristen Stewart’s mom denies confirming daughter’s relationship rumors
Kristen Stewart‘s mom is saying that when she talked to a reporter from the Mirror — an interview that has been making the rounds as confirmation that the actress is dating her female assistant — she wasn’t talking about her daughter’s love life at all.
“I spoke to Sharon Feinstein about my film ‘K-11’ that has been put on display in the Hollywood Museum. ... She also asked me about my views on gay rights, which I was happy to express,” Jules Stewart told Us Weekly on Monday.
The conversation also touched on the elder Stewart’s work with a wolf and wolfdog rescue group, the “K-11” director said, as well as Alicia Cargile, her daughter’s assistant, whom she said she’d met and called “a lovely girl.”
However, Feinstein was standing by her story Monday night and into Tuesday, saying Stewart’s remarks were not taken out of context.
“Ms Stewart stated that she never discussed her daughter’s relationship,” the reporter said on Twitter. “That is simply incorrect.”
Feinstein said Monday night that she’d be posting audio recordings of the interview shortly; on Tuesday, she implied that her publisher wouldn’t permit her to post them and directed people to a statement on her website.
“I have reported the story as discussed and memorialized during our lengthly and cordial formal interview, which took place on Thursday 11th June,” she said. “I am disappointed and saddened by her [Jules Stewart’s] statements to the contrary. This was a very positive story and one told by a loving parent.”
Rumors about Kristen Stewart’s relationship with Cargile have been bubbling for months now, bolstered by paparazzi pictures showing the two holding hands.
In the Mirror story, Feinstein quoted Jules Stewart as saying, “What’s not to be accepting about her now having a girlfriend? She’s happy,” and, “I feel like people need to be free to love whoever they want. I accept my daughter loves women and men. It’s OK to be who you are in my world. We all choose our friends, so we should be free to choose our lovers.”
Stewart’s version? “Never ever did we discuss Kristen!” she told Us.
