Justin Bieber pleads no contest in egging, will pay $81K restitution

Justin Bieber entered a no-contest plea Wednesday on a misdemeanor vandalism charge in connection with the January egging of a Calabasas neighbor’s house, earning himself two years’ probation along with a host of other penalties.

In addition to formal probation, he was sentenced to five days of community service and ordered to pay $80,900 in restitution, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office said in a statement. He’ll also have to partipate in an anger-management program and stay away from the victims for two years.

Bieber wasn’t required to be present in court in Van Nuys, where his attorneys enterted the plea on his behalf. The decision about what he’d be charged with was announced by authorities earlier in the day.

It’s pretty much all good news for the singer, who could have faced a felony vandalism charge based on the dollar amount of the damage he was accused of causing. The restitution amount is much higher than the $20,000 damage estimate that had been previously reported.

Authorities had pondered the felony-vs.-misdemeanor decision for months.

In February, the Biebs bugged out of the scene of the Calabasas crime and headed to Atlanta for a while, selling his home to Khloe Kardashian. He’s since reportedly returned to SoCal and rented a couple of condos in Beverly Hills, much to his new neighbors’ dismay.

Bieber’s been on a positive roll lately, legally speaking.

In June he dodged a felony charge related to an alleged cellphone-snatching incident and reportedly cut a plea deal turning his Miami arrest on suspicion of DUI into a reckless-driving incident with no jail time or probation attached.

The “Boyfriend” singer was just back in Miami for the Fourth of July weekend, at one point pleading with one woman in a swarm of photographers to just back up 10 feet so he could get out of his vehicle.

No worries: He seems to have made it to his yacht party in one piece.
