Jessica Simpson’s wedding video shows off elegant, fun affair

Looks as though Jessica Simpson’s wedding to Eric Johnson was as fun as it was elegant, judging from the newlyweds’ official wedding video.

The singer-turned-fashion designer, who celebrated her 34th birthday on July 10, wed the former football star, also 34, on July 5 at San Ysidro Ranch in Montecito. The couple shared their nuptial highlight reel with People, which showcased the affair’s lavish details as well as its hyped-up party.

The video shows off the singer’s gilded gown, the reception’s heavily draped ballroom that featured long guest tables boasting various floral arrangements and centerpieces, and the couple’s gold six-tiered wedding cake dressed in real flowers.

Just after the one-minute mark, Jessica’s pastor father, Joe Simpson, introduces the couple as “Mr. and Mrs. Eric Johnson” and the newlyweds turn around to greet their cheering guests. The bride sweetly kisses her new husband’s hand and then the video transitions into the all-out party that the elegant affair turned into as guests hit the dance floor. At the end, the couple kiss again surrounded by family and friends posing for a portrait.

Since the nuptials, People and other media outlets have leaked a new detail about the wedding almost every day. Here are a few more highlights:

The budget: The four-day party cost about $1.4 million, E! News reported.

The dress: A golden sparkling, strapless, A-line Carolina Herrera gown befitting Simpson’s bling-happy Texas upbringing. The video’s opening shot features the gown and a small “J” pin that was fastened to it with a light blue ribbon.

The bridal party: Sister Ashlee Simpson and mom Tina served as maids of honor; Jessica’s daughter Maxwell, 2, was a flower girl; son Ace, 1, served as ring-bearer; and Ashlee’s son Bronx, 5, walked Maxwell down the aisle.

The guest count: About 275.

The celebrity guests: Ashlee’s fiancé Evan Ross, Jessica Alba and husband Cash Warren, CaCee Cobb and Donald Faison. (Faison can be seen boogieing in the video.)

The rings: Simpson wore her 1910 Tiffany & Co. ruby-and-diamond engagement ring, which their Neil Lane wedding bands matched. Her yellow and rose gold band was set with 5 carats of round and marquise diamonds. Johnson’s Art Deco band featured a ruby and some diamonds.

Her diet: The Weight Watchers spokeswoman kept “everything in moderation” before the big day, her rep said, refuting a report that Simpson had gone vegan for a couple of weeks.

Her hair color: “A paler, more natural looking blond” that was five months in the making, her colorist told Us Weekly.

The honeymoon: The couple spent the weekend at the Four Seasons Punta Mita Resort in Mexico, Us Weekly reported.
