Jessica Simpson weds longtime fiance Eric Johnson near Santa Barbara
After four years and two children together, Jessica Simpson and fiance Eric Johnson apparently sealed the deal this weekend with a wedding at San Ysidro Ranch outside Santa Barbara.
More than 250 guests turned out Saturday to watch the fashionista and singer marry the former NFL tight end, according to People. Guests included celebrity couples Jessica Alba and Cash Warren, Donald Faison and CaCee Cobb and, of course, sister Ashlee Simpson and her fiance Evan Ross.
“We are overwhelmed with complete happiness and love having made our eternal commitment,” newlyweds Johnson, 34, and Simpson, 33, said in a statement given to People. “To say ‘I do’ in front of family, friends and, most importantly, our children has been the happiest moment of our lives.”
Despite the toned body Simpson showed off in May, it seems she rocked a wedding dress that left a bit to the imagination. According to People, which posted a sketch of the design, the custom, champagne-colored, gold-embroidered Carolina Herrera gown was strapless and fitted through the bodice and waist but featured a big, multilayered skirt. She complemented it with Neil Lane jewelry and Brian Atwood shoes, the magazine said.
The happy event has been on Simpson’s to-do list for a while: She and Johnson got engaged in 2010, but it apparently took a few years before the time was right for a wedding (the second one for each of them). The pair welcomed their daughter Maxwell Drew in May 2012 and son Ace Knute in June 2013.
“I already feel like we’re like an old married couple already,” Simpson said in January on “Good Morning America,” expressing zero doubt that she and Johnson would tie the knot. “If he wanted to run, he could have run when I was hormonal and pregnant.”
When the pair held a joint bachelor-bachelorette party in Los Angeles last month — with dinner, dancing and toasts — it seemed the wedding had to be around the corner. It sure was.
