‘Gotham’s’ Ben McKenzie and Morena Baccarin welcome a baby girl
“Gotham’s” population just went up by one: Ben McKenzie and Morena Baccarin have a baby girl.
The Fox series stars welcomed daughter Frances on March 2, Baccarin’s rep confirmed to The Times on Friday.
“Morena and Ben are so happy to welcome baby girl Frances Laiz Setta Schenkkan on March 2. All are happy and healthy and appreciate the well-wishes,” the couple said in a statement.

If you’re wondering where all those names are coming from, here’s the breakdown: Frances is “The O.C.” alum’s mom’s first name, and Setta is Baccarin’s mother’s maiden name. Schenkkan is McKenzie’s real last name; he uses his middle name as his surname professionally.
It’s the first child for McKenzie and the second for Baccarin, who were outed as a couple — a couple having a baby together — just after the Primetime Emmy Awards in September. Coincidentally, their “Gotham” characters are also having a baby in the Batman prequel series.

The “Homeland” actress welcomed son Julius Setta Chick, 2, with soon-to-be ex-husband Austin Chick back in October 2013, and she spent the majority of that pregnancy heavily involved in the Showtime series. Thanks to post-production editing, her baby bump was hidden — at least until she walked the Emmys red carpet that year.
The estranged pair are currently embroiled in a contentious divorce and custody battle over Julius.
Chick filed for divorce from the actress in July 2015 after three years of marriage, citing irreconcilable differences. He’s seeking joint custody of Julius, spousal support and legal fees, and alleges that Baccarin got pregnant with Frances while they were still together, TMZ reported. She disputed that allegation, saying she got pregnant in June after she and Chick had separated.
In court documents obtained by the website in September, Baccarin said that she and McKenzie are in a “committed relationship” and that she plans to remarry.
USA Today was first media outlet to report Frances’ birth.
