Amber Heard was accused of domestic violence by a former girlfriend in 2009
Amber Heard found herself at the center of another conversation about domestic violence Tuesday as reports surfaced that the actress was previously arrested for allegedly assaulting her then-girlfriend, artist and photographer Tasya van Ree, in 2009.
According to People, the King County court clerk confirmed that Heard appeared before a judge in Seattle on Sept. 15, 2009, for “probable cause assault, domestic violence” after the actress was accused of grabbing and striking van Ree’s arm during an altercation at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport the previous day.
The prosecutor declined to file charges against Heard, though she was warned that a two-year statute of limitations would allow authorities to reconsider and refile charges, according to audio of the hearing obtained by TMZ.
Heard, 30, filed for divorce from husband Johnny Depp on May 23 after just over a year of marriage. On May 27, the actress filed for a restraining order against Depp, 52, alleging the actor had been repeatedly abusive throughout their marriage.
Representatives for Heard did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
