New photos of Amber Heard show bruised eye and bloody lip
New photos have surfaced of a bruised Amber Heard from a December 2015 incident in which Heard says she feared for her life during an altercation with husband Johnny Depp.
People published the photos of Heard, 30, which appear to show the actress with a black eye as well as a wounded lip. The incident, according to the magazine, was referenced Friday in Heard’s court declaration seeking a restraining order against Depp.
The actress called the December incident “severe,” noting that she “truly feared that my life was in danger.”
In the same declaration, Heard details a separate incident that took place in connection with her birthday in April. After spending the evening celebrating with friends, Heard says that Depp arrived at their shared downtown Los Angeles loft “inebriated and high,” at which point an argument ensued, during which Depp “grabbed me by the hair and violently shoved me to the floor.”
Representatives for Depp did not respond to requests for comment.Heard says that was the last time she saw Depp until the May 21 fight that spurred her filing for divorce on May 23. Though LAPD officers responded to a call about the May 21 incident, no police report was filed.
Capt. Don Graham, who oversees the LAPD’s Central Division told The Times on Friday that when officers arrived at the couple’s loft, they spoke to the actress, who told the officers it was a “verbal dispute only” and that the responding officers saw no evidence of a crime at that time. Heard’s lawyers, Samantha F. Spector and Joseph P. Koenig contend that Heard’s reticence to reveal the abuse to police stemmed from a wish to protect her own privacy and Depp’s career.
“In reality, Amber acted no differently than many victims of domestic violence, who think first of the harm that might come to the abuser, rather than the abuse they have already suffered,” Spector and Koenig said in a statement released Tuesday.
Heard since has given a statement to LAPD with her recollection of events from the evening of May 21, according to her representatives.
Depp’s lawyer, Laura Wasser, filed documentation Friday accusing Heard of “attempting to secure a premature financial resolution by alleging abuse” in reaction to “the negative media attention she received earlier in the week.”
Wasser also maintained that Depp was willing to stipulate to mutual stay-away and personal conduct orders, even though her client and Heard were currently on different continents.
Depp, 52, is currently touring with his band, the Hollywood Vampires, and is not scheduled to return stateside before June 7.
A judge granted Heard’s request for a temporary restraining order against Depp on Friday, requiring the actor to stay at least 100 yards away from Heard, pending a further hearing to be held on June 17.
