TV ratings: CBS wins night with ‘Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show’
The Victoria’s Secret angels helped CBS fly in TV ratings on Tuesday night.
“The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show,” posted a rating of 3.3 in the key 18-to-49-year-old demographic, according to Nielsen.
The show, which took place in London last week, featured musical guests Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, Ed Sheeran and Hozier.
The one-hour, 10 p.m. broadcast fell 3% in the key demo from last year, but it still topped the night in the desired category. About 9.1-million viewers tuned in, slightly less than the 9.71-million viewers last year.
Leading up to the annual runway showcase, CBS aired its “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” special and “NCIS.”
The holiday special racked up 10.7-million viewers and averaged a rating of 2.8 in the key demo, making it the second-most-watched program of the night.
Meanwhile, “NCIS” was third-most-watched program overall with 10.2-million viewers. It posted a rating of 1.7 in the key demo.
CBS topped the night with 10-million viewers and a rating of 2.6 in the key demo.
But NBC’s “The Voice” was the most-viewed program of the night, averaging 10.9-million viewers as semifinals continued.
The singing competition was third in the key demo with a rating of 2.2, down 15% from last week.
“Marry Me,” which posted a rating of 1.2 in the key demo, and “About a Boy,” which posted a rating of 0.9 in the key demo, also dropped from last week.
The network’s NBC News special “Angelina Jolie: Unbroken: The Real Story” posted a rating of 1.0 in the key demo. It pulled in 4.7-million viewers.
Overall, NBC was the second-most-watched network with 6.6-million viewers. It tied for second in the key demo with Fox, both posting ratings of 1.4.
Fox’s “Masterchef Junior” stayed even with last week with a rating of 1.6 in the key demo but was up 2% in total viewers averaging 4.9 million.
“New Girl” was up 7% from last week with a rating of 1.5 in the key demo. It averaged 3.3 million.
“The Mindy Project” also increased 9% in the key demo from last week, averaging a 1.2 -- the sitcom’s highest rating in over a month. About 2.6-million viewers tuned in.
ABC came in third overall with 4.8-million viewers. The network tied with The CW for fourth in the key demo, both averaging ratings of 1.3.
“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” fall finale was ABC’s most popular program of the night. Though down 6% from last week in the key demo with a rating of 1.7, the show tied for fourth-most-watched in that category. It also rounded out the top five most-watched programs overall with about 5.2-million viewers.
ABC’s special “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” posted a rating of 1.1 in the key demo and pulled in roughly 4.2-million viewers. “Forever” was down 8% from last week with a rating of 1.1 in the key demo. It averaged 5.1-million viewers.
Meanwhile, on The CW, the fall finale of “The Flash” was down 6% from last week in the key demo with a rating of 1.5. With 4.5-million viewers, the episode was up 4% overall and was the most-watched episode since the series premiere.
The “Supernatural” fall finale was up 22% with a rating of 1.1 in the key demo. It was the series’ most-watched episode in more than four years, averaging 2.8-million viewers.
