The Los Angeles premiere engagement of Christopher Durang’s Tony Award-winning play “Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike” has been extended by one week at the Mark Taper Forum. The production, which stars Christine Ebersole, will run through March 16.

Durang’s play is directed by David Hyde Pierce, who acted in the New York production. Center Theatre Group’s staging, which began performances on Jan. 29, features Ebersole in the role of a movie star (originated by Sigourney Weaver) who descends upon her middle-age siblings at the family home in Pennsylvania.

Actors Kristine Nielsen and Shalita Grant have reprised their roles from New York in L.A.

The play, originally commissioned and staged by the McCarter Theatre Center in New Jersey, was produced off-Broadway at Lincoln Center Theater and then on Broadway last year at the John Golden Theatre in New York.

Durang won the Tony for new play last year. Pierce’s staging of the play is based on director Nicholas Martin’s Broadway production.
