“Come and listen to a story.” The Toluca Lake retirement home of “The Beverly Hillbillies” creator Paul Henning has come on the market at $3.495 million.

The Tudor house last sold for $2.85 million in 2008 and had sold two years before that for $2.91 million.

The product of prolific residential architect Robert Byrd, the 16th century medieval-style two-story features stained-glass windows, exposed beam ceilings and brick and stonework with carved wood accents. Byrd often incorporated birdhouses into the rooflines of his designs.

A sunken bar, a cinema room, a gym, a den/office, four bedrooms and six bathrooms are among spaces within the 5,292-square-foot floorplan. The master suite includes a wood-burning fireplace, a wine cellar, an exercise room and a music room.

The nearly half-acre lot contains a covered patio with a stone fireplace near a grotto-inspired swimming pool.

Henning, who died a decade ago at 93, was a prolific TV writer and producer. Not only did he create “The Beverly Hillbillies,” he also wrote the lyrics and composed the sitcom’s theme song, “The Ballad of Jed Clampett.” He hailed from the South and is also known for the 1960s shows “Petticoat Junction” and “Green Acres.”
