Tyler Perry seeks $17 million for his modern masterpiece in Mulholland Estates
Actor-comedian Tyler Perry has been through a lot with his classic Madea character. First, Madea went to jail. Then, Madea got a job. Now, it’s time for Madea to sell a house.
Perry has listed his modern mansion in gated Mulholland Estates for sale at $16.995 million. That’s roughly $2.5 million more than what he paid for the property last summer, records show.
The custom home sits on more than four acres and sports a dramatic façade of glass walls spliced with steel beams. A landscaped motor court capable of holding 30 cars fronts the three-story spread.
Inside, 17,245 square feet of interiors are filled with angular, sloping ceilings and overlapping marble stairs.
Pyramid-shaped skylights brighten the living spaces, which include a crystal chandelier-topped dining room and an open-plan living room with sweeping canyon views.
The home, built in 1992, holds 10 bedrooms and 11 bathrooms. Outside, the grounds contain a resort-style pool with a slide and grotto, a koi pond, a sports court and multiple dining terraces to take in the views.
Joshua and Matthew Altman of Douglas Elliman hold the listing.
In addition to the plethora of Madea films and plays, the 48-year-old Perry also created the TBS sitcom “Tyler Perry’s House of Payne,” which ran for 254 episodes.
