Holmby Hills mansion once rented by Jay Z and Beyonce brings in $30 million
The estate of a late billionaire, a modern masterpiece in Brentwood and a contemporary spec-house briefly home to hip-hop royalty were among the most expensive residential real estate sales in the greater Los Angeles area over the last two weeks.
$36 million — Beverly Hills
An Italian villa-inspired mansion in the 900 block of North Roxbury Drive sold for $36 million, making it the most expensive sale of a publicly listed home in Beverly Hills to date in 2015, records show.
Formerly owned by Detroit Pistons owner Tom Gores, the 1.35-acre estate has eight bedrooms and 11 bathrooms including a two-bedroom guesthouse.
The two-story home, designed by architect Kevin Clark, features inlaid marble and walnut floors, coffered ceilings, a wood-paneled office/library and a wine cellar with a tasting room. Seven antique fireplaces are within the 14,422 square feet of living space.
Mauricio Umansky and Farrah Aldjufrie of The Agency had the listing. Christopher Dyson, also of The Agency, represented the buyer.
$30 million — Holmby Hills
In the 400 block of North Faring Road, a 16,000-square-foot mansion briefly home to Jay Z and Beyonce sold for $30 million, or $5.5 million less than the most recent price of $35.5 million.
The rapper/hip-hop magnate and his R&B superstar wife last summer paid $200,000 for a monthlong stay at the three-story contemporary built on speculation a year ago.
The museum-like residence, designed by Estate Four founder Alessandro Cajrati Crivelli, has 16,000 square feet of interiors, plus an additional 6,500 square feet in terrace and patio space. An infinity-edge swimming pool, a tennis court, fountains and lawns complete the 1.3-acre estate.
Other notable features include three living rooms, two libraries/studies, a fitness center, an elevator and separate gourmet and catering kitchens. There are seven bedrooms and 8.5 bathrooms in all.
Kurt Rappaport of Westside Estate Agency and James Harris of The Agency were the listing agents. Harris and David Parnes, also with The Agency, repped the buyer.
$19 million — Beverly Hills
The home of late billionaire investor Kirk Kervorkian, who died in June at the age of 98, sold for $3 million less than the asking price
Set on more than an acre in the 1000 block of North Roxbury Drive, the Mediterranean estate was built in 2000 and has two motor courts with two gated entrances. A north-south tennis court, a guesthouse and a three-car garage are also within the grounds.
The 9,732 square feet of interiors have a double-height entry, formal living and dining rooms, a screening room and a library/study. Six bedrooms and six full bathrooms include a pair of master suites.
Vanessa Sandin of Hilton & Hyland, an affiliate of Christie’s International Real Estate, had the listing. Fred Bernstein of Westside Estate Agency was the buyer’s agent.
$16.55 million — Brentwood
A modern-style home designed by noted Mexican architect Ricardo Legorreta sold in the 1600 block of Mandeville Canyon Road after coming to market in April for $22.5 million.
Recently renovated, the 8,000-square-foot house behind gates is distinguished by its clean lines, vaulted interiors, bi-folding walls of glass and rows of clerestory windows.
Open-plan interiors include a living room with a wall fireplace set within glass, a formal dining room and a modern-style kitchen. The master suite has a fireplace and a sitting area for a total of four bedrooms and 5.5 bathrooms.
A rounded swimming pool, an outdoor lounge and a three-story loft-style guesthouse are within the three-quarter-acre grounds.
Deedee Howard of The Agency was the listing agent. Judy Feder of Hilton & Hyland represented the buyer.
$12.5 million — Malibu
Fashion entrepreneur James Perse paid $12.5 million for a shingled Traditional-style home in the Point Dume area. The house, sited on about an acre in the 29000 block of Grayfox Street, had been listed for sale at $13 million.
Built in 2004, the two-story house has dark wood floors, vaulted ceilings with exposed beams and rows of French doors. A formal living room with a fireplace, a center-island kitchen, media and wine rooms, five bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms are within about 4,000 square feet of space.
Outdoors, landscaped grounds feature a north-south tennis court, a solar-heated swimming pool with a spa and various patios. A one-bedroom guesthouse completes the setting.
Christopher Cortazzo of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage was the listing agent. Lily Harfouche, also with Coldwell Banker, repped the buyer.
These are among the top residential real estate sales reported on the combined L.A./Westside Multiple Listing Service for the period beginning Dec. 6 and ending Dec. 19.
