Grammy-winning record producers Stargate buy a modern sanctuary in Venice
Norwegian record producers and songwriters Tor Erik Hermansen and Mikkel Eriksen, better known as the production duo Stargate, have bought a modern home in Venice for $5.25 million.
The purchase was made through a limited liability company that also listed British producers Hugh Atkins and Daniel Poku, who goes by the stage name D-Mob, as members, according to property records obtained by The Times.
Designed and built by Kim Gordon, the 4,300-square-foot home evokes a rural European farmhouse with its steel roofline, stone accents and wood siding. Walls of steel-framed windows underscore the barn-shaped silhouette of the exterior.
Inside, open and airy living areas include a formal living room, a dining room, a center-island kitchen and a pantry/wine room. Glass walls off the main level slide to reveal three gardens.
At the rear of the home is a second living room, kitchen and studio-style apartment. A total of four bedrooms and 4.75 bathrooms includes a master suite with a steam room.
Atop the home, a rooftop patio takes in sweeping views of the surrounding area.
The property came on the market in April for $4.987 million and was under contract in about three weeks.
Tami Pardee of Halton Pardee & Partners was the listing agent. Robin Walpert of Sotheby’s International Realty represented the buyers.
Hermansen and Eriksen have written and produced such hits as Wiz Khalifa’s “Black and Yellow,” Katy Perry’s “Firework” and Iggy Azalea’s “Black Widow.” They won Grammys for the Ne-Yo song “Miss Independent” and Rihanna’s “Only Girl (In the World).”
