Ex-A’s slugger Eric Chavez sells desert home and baseball diamond for $4.75 million

Former ballplayer Eric Chavez, who played for the A’s, Yankees and Diamondbacks across 17 seasons in the majors, has sold his home in Paradise Valley, Ariz., for $4.75 million

The Santa Barbara-inspired estate, built in 2004, covers the bases with sports-centric amenities. There’s a baseball diamond, a football field, a fenced batting cage and a ring for horseback riding. A resort-style swimming pool features a raised spa and a blue-tiled waterslide.

Inside, nearly 14,500 square feet of living space includes four stone fireplaces, a two-story great room, a media room with a bar and a center-island kitchen. The master suite sports a marble-lined bath for a total of six bedrooms and 10 bathrooms.

The garage can accommodate as many as six cars, and a large circular motor court sits just inside the front gates.

The property came to market earlier this year for $5.9 million and was listed at $5.4 million prior to the sale.

Rusty Davis of Russ Lyon Sotheby’s International Realty handled both ends of the transaction.

Chavez, 39, won six Gold Gloves and a Silver Slugger award as one of baseball’s top third basemen in the early 2000s. He spent last season with the Angels organization as a special assistant to General Manager Billy Eppler.

He bought the house in 2010 for $3.6 million, records show.
