Dodgers’ Adrian Gonzalez makes a play for Bret Boone’s estate in Rancho Santa Fe

As baseball GMs continue to wheel and deal this offseason, Dodgers first baseman Adrian Gonzalez has made a move of his own, buying the Rancho Santa Fe estate of former ballplayer Bret Boone for $6.3 million.

Sitting on more than two acres in a gated community, the Tuscan-style estate centers on a main house of about 12,500 square feet with seven bedrooms and nine bathrooms. A detached guest house adds a second full kitchen and another bedroom.

A great room with beamed ceilings, a chef’s kitchen, a game room/bar, his and hers offices and a trophy/game room with a wrap-around bar are among the common areas. The formal dining room can seat as many as 16 people, and the home theater has tiered seating.

Sliding walls of glass extend the living space outdoors, where a covered patio holds a built-in barbecue station/bar. A swimming pool with a waterslide, a tennis court, lawns and landscaping complete the grounds.

Nina Wells of Keller Williams Realty was the listing agent. Enrique Perez, a private broker, represented the buyer.

Gonzalez, a San Diego native, attended Eastlake High School in Chula Vista and previously spent five seasons with the Padres. The 34-year-old slugger hit .285 with 18 home runs for the Dodgers last season, his fifth year with the team.

Boone, 47, hit 252 home runs across 15 seasons in the majors, making three all-star teams. The former Seattle Mariners and Cincinnati Reds second baseman retired in 2006.
