The queen, Britain’s oldest and longest-reigning monarch, turned 90 on April 21. She usually celebrates her birthday privately, but this year’s milestone served as the jumping off point for weeks of celebrations.
Her birthday will be marked officially — as usual — with the Trooping the Color ceremony Saturday.
A lunch on the Mall, the road leading to Buckingham Palace, will be held Sunday to celebrate the queen’s patronage of 600 organizations, together with street parties and events around the country.
