Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga bring jazz standards alive at the Cosmopolitan
Reporting from Las Vegas — Get a glimpse of what Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga have in store for New Year’s Eve in Las Vegas. The duo took to the Mophie Stage at The Chelsea at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas on Tuesday night for their first ticketed performance together in the United States of their Cheek to Cheek tour.
As the crystal-studded curtains opened, the duo delivered a lineup of classic jazz standards with an orchestra backing them. For nearly two hours, Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga entertained the sold-out crowd with songs such as “Anything Goes,” “Cheek To Cheek,” “They All Laughed” and “Nature Boy.” Other hits on the agenda included “I Won’t Dance” and “I Can’t Give You Anything But Love.” The two performed solo as well, with Bennett performing classics such as “The Good Life,” “Sophisticated Lady” and “Sing You Sinners” and Gaga singing jazz standards including “Bang Bang,” “Lush Life” and “Firefly.” Lady Gaga of course turned out a number of costumes, hair and makeup looks.
For the finale, the pair performed “It Don’t Mean a Thing (If It Ain’t Got That Swing).”
Notable names in attendance included designer Alexander Wang as well as “Chicago Fire” actor Taylor Kinney. This evening, Bennett and Gaga return to The Chelsea for a sold-out New Year’s Eve performance.
