At this new Las Vegas restaurant, this lobster treat is on a roll
You no longer have to travel to New York or Boston to bite into the lobster rolls for which the East Coast is famous. A new lobster shack on the Strip brings the seaside to Las Vegas.
Luke’s Lobster recently opened its first location west of the Mississippi River. The outdoor eatery along Las Vegas Boulevard serves the grab-and-go food that founders Luke Holden and Ben Conniff introduced in 2009 in Manhattan’s East Village.
Their newest location is in a new pedestrian plaza beside the Fashion Show mall, just steps from the Strip.
Given its focus, the menu is a short one. It includes shrimp rolls ($10), crab rolls ($14) and lobster rolls ($18) along with such sides as New England clam chowder ($9) and Jonah crab claws (four for $8). Everything is made using fresh seafood.
If you opt not to grab and go, you can stay and eat in a seating area that can handle about a dozen people.
Conniff and Holden, the son of a Maine lobsterman, are co-authors of the cookbook “Real Maine Food,” published in April. It’s for sale at their Las Vegas restaurant for $35.
Hours are 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Sundays-Thursdays and until midnight Fridays and Saturdays.
