Singers Andrea Bocelli and Ricky Martin to perform at MSC Seaside’s naming party
Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli and Latin music singer Ricky Martin will share the stage at MSC Seaside’s naming ceremony at PortMiami on Dec. 21.
Italian actress Sophia Loren, the ship’s godmother, also will appear to cut the ribbon and officially name the ship that’s already generating buzz for its cool design.
Seaside, which can carry 4,134 passengers, reflects the vibe of what will be its homeport of Miami. Cruise Critic editors this month voted it 2017’s best new ocean ship.
A Cruise Critic review gushes over “Miami-style ‘condo cabins’ complete with wraparound balconies and ... aft outside elevators.”
The ship also features a waterfront boardwalk on Deck 8, an aqua park and two zip lines on which guests can sail across the ship at speeds up to 20 mph, according to an MSC news release.
The spa, the largest in the line’s fleet, has saunas, a geyser area, snow room, hammam, and “emotional showers for the ultimate in relaxation and rejuvenation.”
For dining, MSC teamed up with celebrity chef Roy Yamaguchi to create Asian Market Kitchen, where passengers can choose from a sushi, sashimi and raw bar; an a la carte restaurant; and a teppanyaki restaurant.
The MSC Seaside will sail Jan. 6 to the Bahamas, Jamaica, Cayman Islands and Mexico on a round-trip seven-night itinerary from Miami. Prices start at $529 per person, plus $108 in taxes and fees.
You can watch the ship’s inaugural event Dec. 21 live-streamed on MSC’s website.
