Fashion takes center stage on this Queen Mary 2 crossing
Love fashion and love cruises? Cunard combines both on a transatlantic crossing that arrives in New York City just in time for Fashion Week in September.
The cruise line bills the Queen Mary 2 trip as a chance to be with “fashion royalty.”
Indeed, first up is British designer Dame Zandra Rhodes, who during her long career has dressed such diverse people as Princess Diana, Jackie Onassis, Elizabeth Taylor and Freddie Mercury of the rock group Queen.
During the crossing, models will display some of Rhodes’ designs on a catwalk. Passengers also will hear a presentation by the woman who gained her title from Queen Elizabeth II in 2014.
Fern Mallis, the founder of New York Fashion Week, and fashion historian and journalist Colin McDowell also will be featured speakers on the cruise to answer questions and add to the fashion conversation.
The cruise leaves Southampton, England, on Sept. 1 and arrives in New York City on Sept. 8.
Cabins for the seven-night crossing start at $1,488 per person.
