What does $7 buy these days? A ride from Long Beach to LAX
FlyAway Bus service connecting Long Beach and Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) will begin in December, just in time for the holidays.
Tickets will cost $7 each way for the first six months, according to an L.A. World Airports statement. You’d be hard pressed to find a cheaper price for the roughly 20-mile ride.
The bus will pick up and drop off at the Long Beach Transit Gallery at 1st Street and Broadway downtown. The stop connects with the Metro Blue Line and local buses too.
Why Long Beach? A survey of ZIP Codes among LAX fliers showed Long Beach as fifth-largest percentage, the airport agency says.
The service joins FlyAway airport service to and from Van Nuys, Union Station in downtown Los Angeles, Westwood, Hollywood and Santa Monica. One-way fares range from $8 to $10.
