National park tips: Here’s where you should bed down in Yellowstone
All grand old national park hotels are not created equal. Thanks to its location, design and iconic stature, Yellowstone National Park’s log-wrought Old Faithful Inn is one of the best.
It’s the only Yellowstone summer lodging that puts you right next to Old Faithful and the Upper Geyser Basin at all hours. And its woodsy atrium, raised in 1903-04, is a wonder to behold. (In 2017, it will be open May 5 through Oct. 8, most rooms priced $191-$276.)
Unlike many historic lodgings, it has elevators, added after the construction of the 1904 core of the hotel. But there are plenty of old-hotel quirks, including a bunch of rooms with bathrooms down the hall ($118-$227).
You’ll probably need to book far in advance, but the memories will likely make it worthwhile.
