National park tips: To look down on Yosemite Valley, go here first
Reporting from — Welcome to Yosemite. Now get out of the valley. There’s way more to the park in the high country. Start with Glacier Point, which offers incredible views of Half Dome and Yosemite valley. If crowds are too thick there, walk or drive a mile south to Washburn Point. Different angle, fewer people.
In honor of this year’s National Park Service centennial, the Travel section is posting 100 park travel ideas and tips based on trips staff travel writer Christopher Reynolds has taken, along with photo-op advice from Times photographer Mark Boster. We’ll post one per day through Dec. 31.
