Las Vegas cocktails inspired by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s engagement
There is no need to wait for the spring wedding to toast Britain’s newest royal couple. In Las Vegas, you can already say “cheers” to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle with cocktails made for the occasion.
The couple announced plans to marry at Windsor Castle next May.
Picasso at Bellagio has introduced its Royal Soiree cocktail, carrying on the “something old, something new” theme of Markle’s engagement ring (two of the diamonds are from Princess Diana’s collection).
The drink features Hangar 1 Mandarin Blossom vodka from Alameda, Calif., as the “new” ingredient along with Grand Marnier’s 150th anniversary liqueur as the “old.”
The concoction is infused with English breakfast tea and topped with Taittinger Comtes de Champagne. $75 a glass.
Just down Las Vegas Boulevard at Aria, Bardot Brasserie has launched the New Royale to welcome Markle’s approaching entry into the royal family.
The Champagne cocktail blends London Dry gin with Fruitlab hibiscus liqueur. Lemon juice and a splash of sparkling rosé complete the ingredients. The yellow gold rim on the glass is a nod to Harry’s choice of ring for his bride-to-be. $16 a glass.
Gin+Gin Royale is the name of the newest cocktail at Libertine Social at Mandalay Bay. The drink fittingly marries equal parts Bombay Sapphire gin from Laverstoke Mill, England, and Junipero gin from San Francisco.
Mint is added to the concoction, as is ginger beer and ginger simple syrup, possible references to the prince’s hair color. $16 a glass.
Prince Harry made headlines before in Vegas. In August 2012, he was caught on camera naked during a wild party at Encore.
