Beginner lesson, rentals, lift ticket for $69 at Lake Tahoe ski resort
Homewood Mountain Resort, a midsize ski area that sits above Lake Tahoe’s western shore, offers wannabe skiers and boarders a lesson and lift ticket for a single-day price of $69.
The deal: This is a good way for beginner adults to find their feet. For $69, you get a ski or snowboard lesson, rental gear (helmets cost extra) and a lift ticket to beginner slopes only. The price is good Sundays through Thursdays.
After learning your way around the slopes, you may want to buy a three-pack lift ticket for $210. The limited-time offer is good on all slopes for any three days of the season, no restrictions or blackouts.
When: Lift ticket purchases are good through the 2017-18 season. Homewood plans to open Dec. 8, conditions permitting.
The place: Ski magazine describes this lesser-known resort as “so close to the water’s edge that skiers feel as if they could schuss right off the mountain and into the lake.” Homewood fits the bill if you’re starting out and want some nice views and fewer crowds than the bigger Sierra resorts.
