Princess Cruises is launching a specialty restaurant concept on select ships next month that sounds a little old school: Share your meal with others.

The cruise line will feature “intriguing dishes served family style” at new restaurants called Share. It has enlisted Australian celeb chef, cookbook author and Beverly Hills restaurateur Curtis Stone to design what that kind of dining looks like.

The idea is to make the dining experience more intimate and more engaging with your own family members and friends as well as passengers aboard ship, a Princess statement says.

Stone is the creator of Maude at 212 S. Beverly Drive. He describes a meal at Share this way in a video he made for Princess:

You enter the restaurant as a couple, and you each order three courses. Six plates come out to the table and “you’ll interact with one another and share. ... Hopefully they’ll taste so good you won’t want to share,” he says.

The meal may start with a charcuterie option followed by a light salad or dish featuring hand-made pasta, grilled seafood and meat as the main course, and desserts for the finale.

Share will be rolled out in December aboard the Ruby Princess, which sails between Los Angeles and Hawaii and Mexico; and on the Emerald Princess on cruises between Fort Lauderdale and the Caribbean.

Eventually, the restaurant will be featured on Australia cruises aboard the Sun Princess.

The specialty restaurant will cost, extra but prices aren’t yet available.
