Hawaii: On-the-sand dining at this beachfront Kauai restaurant
If your table was any closer to the water, you’d be eating in the ocean. That’s the excitement of eating at a new restaurant on Kauai’s Coconut Coast.
Lava Lava Beach Club at Kapaa’s Kauai Shores Hotel isn’t your typical beachfront bar and restaurant. Here, you can enjoy a drink or a meal while dipping your toes in the sand.
Lava Lava’s dine-on-the-beach concept began with its highly reviewed restaurant at Waikoloa on Hawaii Island. Its new, second location on Kauai -- it opened in early January -- highlights the same laid-back-and-barefoot ambiance. Both locations offer indoor dining too.
Firepits are nearby for those occasional evenings when it’s a bit chilly outside. There’s also live entertainment daily.
The Kapaa eatery is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Check out the nine types of Bloody Marys on the breakfast menu.
Later in the day, the restaurant’s specialty is its pineapple fried rice, served in a hollowed-out pineapple. It’s priced at $19. Add $9 for garlic shrimp or $17 for a lobster tail.
Kauai Shores is offering a $40 dining credit to guests who book a stay of three nights or more before Dec. 20.
