Here are the California national parks you can go to for free today
Ninety-nine years ago today, President Woodrow Wilson signed a bill creating the National Park Service. To celebrate, the NPS is letting you go to any national park for free Tuesday.
Not sure where you should go to exercise this good fortune?
Here’s a list of some of California’s most celebrated national parks to get you started. A complete list of all parks and monuments can be found here.
If you can manage to play hooky Tuesday, you can save $20 on entrance fees to Joshua Tree and Sequoia parks, and $30 for Yosemite.
And pro tip for the tried-and-true deal-seekers: Redwood, Rosie the Riveter and Channel Islands National Parks are always free, so save those for another day.
If you can’t make it this time, you still have two “fee-free” days left in 2015: Sept. 26 for National Public Lands Day and Nov. 11, which is Veterans Day.
