Cheryl Brothers is new Fountain Valley mayor

Tuesday’s Fountain Valley City Council meeting was the last with Steve Nagel in the mayor’s seat. The council voted unanimously to promote member Cheryl Brothers to the position for the next year.

Councilman John Collins moved into Brothers’ former position of mayor pro tem.

“Mayor Nagel is a hard act to follow,” said Brothers, whose current council term expires in November 2016.

Nagel spoke of his love for the city and its staff.

“It was a pleasure to serve as the mayor this year,” he said. “We have a lot to offer in this city, and our entire city staff all does a great job. I want to thank them for all the support this year and all the service.”
