Another construction worker at SoFi Stadium has tested positive for the novel coronavirus, according to an internal email the lead contractor sent to trade partners Monday.

This is the fourth worker on the $5-billion project known to have tested positive since late March.

A third construction worker at SoFi Stadium tested positive for COVID-19, according to an internal email Tuesday from the joint venture for the project.

The email from Turner-AECOM Hunt said the worker was last on site Thursday to help paint the stadium’s “North VIP Canopy” and is currently at home “doing well.”

A worker installing light poles, an ironworker and a worker involved in excavation previously tested positive for COVID-19 in the last month. The project has implemented a variety of safety measures, including taking the temperature of each person before they enter the site.

Tools and facilities the worker used have been disinfected, according to the email, and colleagues who were in close contact with the person are in self-quarantine through Friday.

In response to the pandemic, the contractor previously added additional hand-washing stations and toilets to the 298-acre project, had nonessential personnel work from him, told workers to stay home if they don’t feel well, required workers on site to stay six feet from each other and, in early April, instituted mandatory temperature checks for anyone entering the site.

The email said the project “remains open to work without restriction.”

The first event at the stadium, the future home of the Rams and Chargers, is scheduled to be Kenny Chesney’s concert on Aug. 1. Taylor Swift had been scheduled to open the venue in late July, but the singer-songwriter canceled her live appearances in 2020 because of the pandemic.

The NFL is expected to release the schedule for the upcoming season in the next week. It’s unclear when the state’s stay-at-home order will be relaxed enough to allow games at the stadium without fans, the third part of Gov, Gavin Newsom’s four-stage plan.
