Snoop Dogg makes the most of his media credential during pre-Super Bowl interviews [Videos]

Cam Newton looked like he wanted to be anywhere but the San Jose Marriott on Thursday when he took the podium for yet another pre-Super Bowl news conference. He looked down, heaved a heavy sigh and was more or less scowling in front of the group of media members gathered to talk to him.

Then the Carolina Panthers quarterback noticed that group included Snoop Dogg, and everything changed. Newton’s eyes lit up, a bright smile came across his face and he exclaimed, “Naw!” in disbelief.

The rapper, who was apparently representing “The Rich Eisen Show,” started the session by singing a request for Newton to dab for him. Newton laughed and obliged.

Then Snoop asked a real question: “Is the kid in you outweighing the man in you in this game you’re about to be playing?”

And Newton gave a real answer. “Half of me tries to be as professional as possible, but the human in me just wants to take it all in,” he said.

Then Snoop told him, “I got three kids in the audience that need footballs; make their dreams come true,” referring to Newton’s practice of handing game balls to young fans after touchdowns. Newton replied, “Say no more.”

The charismatic hip-hop star also hit up Peyton Manning during the Denver quarterback/pizza franchise co-owner’s session with the media earlier in the day at the Santa Clara Marriott. “Peyton, Snoop Dogg from ‘The Rich Eisen Show,’” he said. “First of all, can I get a 50% discount on Papa John’s pizzas when I’m in the state of Colorado?”

Manning answered, “Absolutely, absolutely.”

Snoop then asked Manning if he had been getting any football advice from father Archie and brother Eli. Manning started his answer with, “Well, Snoop ...” (which was awesome) and then said, in short, yes.

“I’m very grateful to have both those guys that have played in the NFL ... to be able to talk to,” Manning said. “I feel very fortunate.”

Snoop spent time with a lot of other players as well. He’s not the most hard-hitting journalist, but he seems to know how to get the guys to open up.
