Watch Jeff Saturday snap a ball to Peyton Manning one last time
Jeff Saturday and Peyton Manning spent 12 seasons together on the Indianapolis Colts, with Manning taking snaps from Saturday during most of that time.
They went their separate ways this year. But with Saturday deciding to call it a career after this season, it was only fitting that they share one final exchange at the Pro Bowl on Sunday.
Only one problem -- Manning now plays for an AFC team (the Denver Broncos), and Saturday an NFC team (the Green Bay Packers).
Turns out, that wasn’t a problem at all -- after all, this is the Pro Bowl we’re talking about. So for one play during the first quarter, six-time Pro Bowler Saturday jogged onto the field with the AFC offense and for one last time in his career hiked the ball to Manning, a 12-time Pro Bowler.
“For old time’s sake,” Manning told the rest of the players in the AFC huddle.
After the play, Manning handed the game ball to Saturday while the two old friends shared an embrace and a few words.
“It’s been an honor and a pleasure, man,” Manning said before congratulating his former center on a great career.
“I love you, dude,” Saturday said before jogging back to the NFC sideline.
It really was a cool moment -- and for just an instant the Pro Bowl seemed slightly less meaningless.
