Oscar Pistorius is spotted on the track in South Africa
Less than two months after being charged in the shooting death of his girlfriend, sprinter Oscar Pistorius has been spotted on the track and could soon resume training.
A picture of the double-amputee athlete, wearing his famed blades, appeared in the Thursday edition of the Afrikaans-language Beeld newspaper.
Pistorius has denied intentionally shooting his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, in the bathroom of his South African home on Valentine’s Day, saying that he mistook her for an intruder. The court released him on bail and his next appearance is scheduled for June.
Pistorius has been a dominant Paralympian and made history last summer when he competed for his nation at the 2012 London Olympics.
The photo of him at the University of Pretoria running facility was taken by a passerby on March 24 but did not surface until this week. Pistorius’ agent told the Associated Press that the sprinter was “having a jog” around the track.
Family members have insisted that Pistorius remains traumatized by Steenkamp’s death but his agent said a return to training could come any day now.
