Kings’ Drew Doughty a finalist for NHL’s Norris Trophy

Kings defenseman Drew Doughty is one of three finalists for the NHL’s Norris Trophy, joining P.K. Subban of Montreal and Erik Karlsson of Ottawa.
The award, voted on by the Professional Hockey Writers Assn., goes to the defenseman showing the “greatest all-around ability in the position”. Doughty was a Norris finalist in the 2009-10 season, finishing third in the voting, the same season he was named a second-team All Star.
Karlsson won the Norris in 2011-12, and Subban took the award the following season.
Doughty’s workload for the Kings was a heavy one this past season because of the injuries on the back end and defenseman Slava Voynov’s indefinite suspension. For the Kings, Doughty finished with seven goals, 46 points and a plus-three. His ice time, 28 minutes 59 seconds per game, was second most in the league
The winner is to be announced June 24, during the NHL Awards event at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
